Speech Therapy Empty Speech Therapy

Post  teegee Tue Feb 21, 2012 4:57 am

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. It isn't about Early Intervention Speech Therapy, so not sure where to put it.

We were getting SLT before DD1 turned 5, and the therapist at the last appointment said we would have to go private for any more SLT. Has anyone done this? Does this help? DH is sort of anti this at the moment, saying that we have to help her "learn" before she can learn to get therapy (if it makes sense to you, it is more than it makes to me!! I have no idea what he is going on about!!!).

Anyway, DD1 is now 6, and I really think she needs SLT - how is your 6 year old ASD kid talking??? Proper sentences? Baby talk?

Advice please!!!

Does the school not access anything like that? I would have thought that they would if she needed it.
